The
Panamanian Guitar Circle invites you to participate in the First Roque
Cordero Central American Guitar Composition Competition"
RULES
OF THE CONTEST
1.
The competition is open to Central American composers (Guatemala,
El Salvador, Honduras, Belice, Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Panamá)
with no age limit, residing in or living outside their countries.
2. The participants will present one work for solo guitar between
5 and 10 minutes long, which can have several movements. The work
must not be published or commercially recorded, but it may have been
performed publicly.
3. Participants will send three copies of the work and will identify
themselves with a pseudonym. Recording of the work is optional. MIDI
format recordings are accepted. The name of the composer should not
be written either on the score or the recordings.
4. In a sealed envelope, with the work title and pseudonym written
outside, the participants will include:
a. A sheet with their name, address and telephone or e-mail, so they
can be reached if the work is selected.
b. Xerox of the ID, passport or birth certificate where the nationality
can be read clearly.
c. A short resume.
5. The work and other requirements should be sent before May 31, 2002

6. There is a single prize of $500.00 US. The winner will be announced
publicly in Panama City in August, 2002. The jury will be composed
of distinguished Panamanian musicians. The names of the jurors will
be
announced with that of the winner.
7. The winning work will be performed in the "V Encuentro Internacional
de Guitarra, Panamá 2003". It will be published with the
consent of the composer, who will conserve all the rights.
8. All the works will be donated to the Panamanian Guitar Circle's
Private Library, National Library of Panama and Simón Bolívar
Library of the University of Panama. Further information about the
