Wedding in Molyvos, Greece
Posted on: 13 September 2026

What a beautiful location for a wedding!
I have spent a lot of time on Lesvos Island, Greece, and played many weddings across the island… But I had never been to Molyvos and never played at any of the beautiful wedding venues here.
We first met at Tropicana restaurant, where many of the wedding guests were enjoying brunch. Then, in Greek tradition, the bride and groom arrived and led the whole congregation to the church where the ceremony was held. I played this wedding with my friend and excellent musician, Erdem Güreler. This walk is called the ‘Patinada ‘, and I played mandolin, and Erdem played steel-string guitar as we accompanied the bride and groom and all the guests to the church. While the wedding took place, we relocated to Delfina Hotel, where Akis, our favourite percussionist on the island, joined us. We set up next to the swimming pool and played for the champagne reception with Greek snacks.
Here is a picture of the cake being cut just after one (of eleven!) of the speeches;

And here is where the head table was set up just behind the dance floor and with Molyvos Castle in the immediate backdrop.

And here is that head table in the context of the other guest tables and, of course, the sea (Aegean):

Here is the look of the location a little later on, after the drinks reception, just before guests sat down for the wedding breakfast. Note again, the castle in the backdrop:

And here is a short clip of Erdem and me playing Narcos, the theme from the Netflix series Narcos:
